Meet Our Pastor

The Rev. Dr. Jeremy W. McElvain, Pastor

Pastor Jeremy is a native of Centerville. His doctoral work is in Fine Arts and Theology. His dissertation work was on the white images of Jesus and their role in racism within the Church. He is an avid art collector and enjoys speaking about spirituality and the fine arts. Pastor Jeremy shares his art collection with the congregation, allowing the congregation to see an array of Christian art. His undergraduate work is in English and Literature and he holds graduate degrees in Theology and Christian Education from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, California and St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, Missouri. His doctoral work was completed at Wesley Thelolgical Seminary in Washington, D.C.

Prior to serving at First Lutheran, Pastor Jeremy served parishes in both Missouri and Iowa.
